eureka 7 |
Big robots. That surf. In the sky.
That about sums up the first glance at this anime, Eureka 7. I know, I had that look on my face the first time, too. But don't let that deter you from catching one of the best shows out there right now. The plot is still unraveling 20 episodes in, and it gets more and more interesting and dramatic as you go. (Gundam Seed anyone?) Basically something happened a while ago that released "trapar" into the skies, a strange quasi-real energy/substance that allows for surfing in the sky... with the use of special boards. Coupling that with the emergence of the LFO (the giant robots that appeared along with the trapar phenomena), well... you have sky-surfing robots!
It's really good, I swear.
Besides that, I would compare the feel of this anime most closely to that of Bleach. It has that "cool, hip" air to it that keeps you feeling good while watching. You will get the idea as soon as the opening credits roll on the first episode. The music just rocks. I'd have to say it is has the best collection of opening/ending credit tracks currently available. I dare say they are more catchy than those of Bleach.
All around, you'll be hard pressed to find a better show these days. (Naruto! I blame you! *seethes*) Right now, this one is coming up a close second to the champion, Bleach. Although, if you have always dreamed of being the sekai no ichi of baking bread... boy have I got an anime for you.
But that's for another blog. Enjoy.
