crt over widescreen LCD? I thought you only played WoW, wow looks amazing in wide ratio.

congratz on the 6600gt, btw, sort of old hardware but I've still got mine too. :P I had to take it apart though and clean it up cause the fan was acting up.

there's no way I can afford a WS lcd, and I still think flat crts blow lcds out of the water for crispness.

a VGA CRT vs a DVI LCD? no way. You're 6600 GT has DVI out right?

What's you budget for the monitor? Dell has great deals on WS monitors from time to time, that's where I got mine.

Don't forget to pick up a DVI cable to go with that monitor. It looks like it only comes with a VGA. VGA is 'alright' but DVI is really what you want to use for a crisp and clear picture.

Also, when you get your LCD you'll want to look into your windows display settings.. look for "cleartype" (I think that's what it's called.) There's two types of font settings and I think turning cleartype helps make text more readable on the LCD, but it's really a matter of opinion. Find out what you like.

When Hans called me and told me about the monitor he got, I thought it was a good deal. My 8 year old 19" CRT monitor was finally dying. I decided to stop by the same place to get the same monitor as Hans. I didn't see it so I picked up at 22" Acer. Widescreen. I got Kate a 20" Acer widescreen LCD as well.

Kate and I weren't able to set them up until later in the evening. I lucked out, mine was great. However, Kate had a very annoying, bright green dead pixel. So I went to exchange the monitor on Sunday. We brought it home and found another dead pixel.

Kate and I took the monitor back tonight and she decided to upgrade to the same monitor that I have, the 22" Acer. We had them plug it in at the store and didn't see any dead pixels. I've hooked it up but we haven't powered it up yet so I hope, it didn't damage itself on the way home and during set up.

    I got the Acer AL2216W.
